22 Classical and Traditional Duets for Two Tubas: Intermediate Level

Intermediate Classic Duets for Tubas is a collection of 22 classical and traditional pieces arranged in bass clef for advancing players of a similar standard. While a few pieces are easier, most delve into the range of notes and techniques expected of players at around Grades 4+ (some can be quite challenging!). The notes span from B flat below the stave to B flat just above it, with most pieces not reaching such high notes. The melodies shift between parts, making it more demanding but excellent for enhancing listening skills and enjoyment. Ideal for playing during lessons, with friends, or to entertain the family.

The majority of pieces are in simple keys and are one page in length, although some extend to two or three pages. We have included a mix of classical and traditional melodies, as well as slow and fast-paced pieces, easy and difficult tunes, some to play right away and others to work on over time. The collection features excerpts from iconic compositions such as Beethoven’s Für Elise, Saint-Saëns' The Swan from Carnival of the Animals, Dvorák’s Humoresque, Holst’s Jupiter, Loch Lomond, and more.

This selection also includes pieces by Grieg, Elgar, Chopin, Boccherini, Bizet, Glinka, Tchaikovsky, Brahms, and others, with some lesser-known tunes added to encourage musical exploration and adventure. Enjoy the experience!
